Library closed some days in November: The Scripps Miramar Ranch Branch Library will be closed for the following days: • Tuesday, Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) • Thursday, Nov. 27 (Thanksgiving) • Friday, Nov. 28.

Welcome to new library staff: Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library (SRFOL) welcomes Zeina Guoin, our new library branch manager. She has served in a variety of roles in several library systems and has been with San Diego Public Library for the past 11 years, including positions at the Central Library and as branch manager at the Serra Mesa Library. Zeina is multilingual in Arabic and French as well as English, and particularly enjoys reading nonfiction, especially books on travel and history. We look forward to working with Zeina, other new staff members Robert, Sundaraa (“John”), Cindy (who started her library career at our library), and Phoua, plus continuing staff Luis, Itohan (“IT”), and Minoo, who is temporarily assigned to our library.

Library closure and parking lot updates: The planned closure of our library for replacement of the roof and HVAC system is now expected to occur after the end of this calendar year and is projected to last at least 8-10 months. We have also been informed that work on the lower parking lot, which has been suspended for the past 18 months, may restart this fall.

Grace’s Book Nook: Make Grace’s Book Nook, the used bookstore in the Scripps Ranch Library, your go-to destination for bargains on nearly new books. Book Nook is open Tuesdays through Saturdays during library hours. The stock includes books and media for adults, children and teens at amazing prices. The Book Nook also has CDs, DVDs, magazines, greeting cards and jigsaw puzzles. The Book Nook also stocks antiquarian and vintage books, including collectors’ editions. For an enjoyable outing with young children, a visit to the Book Nook can be a fun and educational experience. Share in the joy as they find a treasured book and select a bag of duck food (specially formulated for waterfowl) for the next adventure at adjacent Evans Pond.

Don’t miss the next second Saturday “pop-up” sale, scheduled for Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., which
will feature an expanded inventory and shopping area.

Your tax-deductible donations of gently used books are always welcome. Fiction, CDs and DVDs are currently in particular demand, but books for all ages and most all genres would be very much appreciated. All donations help support the library.
