Women’s Club is adding new activities

Autumn has arrived! The Women’s Club is welcoming the season with an exciting lineup of social programs and events. We are always looking for ways to expand our offerings and provide activities that appeal to all our members. This year, we are delighted to introduce a fourth Bunco group, a brand-new Canasta group and even a third Bridge group, which will begin in October. Mahjong also continues to thrive and is now available on a weekly basis thanks to the enthusiastic participation of our members.

Last year, we introduced several new favorites, including Friday Pickleball, Scrabble and a third book group. These engaging activities have quickly grown in popularity and reflect the variety of opportunities we strive to offer. We continue to welcome new members who are eager to enjoy fun programs, connect with others and share in the sense of community that makes our club so special.

The months ahead are filled with a wonderful variety of special events and outings for our members. In September, the Social Committee organized a tour of the fabulous Gaylord Pacific Resort in Chula Vista, followed by a luncheon at the Italgo Pasta Bar. Looking ahead, plans are in the making for a day trip to Julian – topped off, of course, with apple pie – as well as an excursion to the Lions, Tigers and Bears animal sanctuary in Alpine.

The Club’s Arts and Culture group is planning a full schedule of cultural events. In September, members enjoyed a docent-guided tour of the Chinese Historical Museum followed by lunch at nearby Shi San Fan restaurant. The committee is also busy organizing an afternoon at the opera with “La Bohème,” the festive Jewels of the Season holiday exhibit at the Timken Museum of Art in Balboa Park, and a holiday performance of Handel’s “Messiah.” Our cultural events alone will keep us busy throughout the next few months.

At the same time, the theatre group is looking forward to our pre-theatre gatherings and the enjoyment of attending the Scripps Ranch Theatre productions of “Kimberly Akimbo,” “Master Class,” and “Donna Orbits the Moon.” For those who love the outdoors, the Adventure Walking group has plans to explore Liberty Station, Solana Beach and Mule Hill. To make these experiences even more enjoyable, many outings will include delicious luncheons or special treats, creating the perfect blend of culture, outdoor adventure, fun and camaraderie.

We are especially pleased to welcome many new members this year and to see them jumping right into the fun. From Book Discussions, Bunco, Mahjong, and Bridge to Adventure Walks, Pickleball, Theatre, and Scrabble, the calendar is filled with opportunities to participate and enjoy. Of course, our ever-popular Fun and Games group never fails to spark laughter and good cheer. With so much to offer, the only challenge is deciding what to join first!

The Women’s Club offers a welcoming space to connect, make new friends and take part in an array of enjoyable activities. We are also proud of our Scholarship and Community Support programs, which give back to the Scripps Ranch community in meaningful ways.
