The Scripps Ranch High School varsity football team will take its 3-2 record to Crawford High School for a contest on Friday, Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m. The Falcons will try to get back on track after dropping two games in a row, the last being a disastrous last-minute loss when the game should have been well-in-hand.
La Jolla beats SRHS 10-13
Scripps Ranch played at La Jolla High School on Sept. 14. The La Jolla Vikings, with their backup quarterback in the game, battled to a win over Scripps Ranch. The game came down to the last 1 minute.
With 53 seconds on the clock, Scripps Ranch was ahead 10-7. The Falcons prepared to take a knee to run out the clock and set up in victory formation. As the ball was snapped, La Jolla blitzed the line and slapped the ball out of quarterback Dillion Gebase’s hands.
With the ball on the ground, La Jolla jumped on it and recovered, setting up the Vikings for a new set of downs. La Jolla then scored a touchdown. With little time left on the clock, Scripps Ranch tried to get the ball at least into field goal range, but was unable to make it happen, suffering a disappointing defeat, 10-13.
