The Falcons are now scheduled to play La Jolla High School in the CIF San Diego Section Championship final on Saturday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. at Southwestern College.
The La Jolla Vikings earned a chance to fight for the Division III championship by beating Brawley 15-14 on Nov. 22. Scripps Ranch defeated La Jolla 17-7 earlier this season on Sept. 20 in a home game. They will meet again on Saturday.
The Falcons faced a pretty decent Central team in Friday’s semifinal game. They were big and skilled. As always, Scripps Ranch kept coming at them.
The Falcons scored on a run by Nichola Gardinera in the first quarter.
Central caused several worrisome moments in the first half when one of their defenders knocked the ball loose as Falcons quarterback Luke Durkin attempted a pass in Scripps Ranch territory, causing a mad scramble for possession. The Falcons were able to stop the opponents from scoring a touchdown following the turnover, however.
Then Scripps Ranch opened up its offense with a couple of touchdown passes before the end of the second quarter. While Central scored in the second half, Scripps Ranch managed to keep them at arms-length and add up more of its own points.
The Falcons are looking strong as the team adds to its incredible and historic undefeated season with 12 wins and no losses.
