Junior Pee Wee Falcons advance

The Jr. Pee Wee Falcons scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to gain a win and advance in Pop Warner football playoff action last Saturday, Nov. 11 at Scripps Ranch High School. Unfortunately, two other Scripps Ranch Pop Warner teams suffered defeats in the second round of the playoffs on the same day. The Pee Wee Falcons lost to Torrey Pines, 14-24, and the Jr. Varsity Falcons lost to the Poway Raiders, 0-31.

The Jr. Pee Wee Falcons beat the Temecula Golden Kodiaks, 14-0, in what was a tight, scoreless struggle until the fourth quarter. The Falcons recovered one Kodiaks fumble and mounted a drive to the end zone for the first touchdown and extra points. Near the end of the last quarter, the Falcons turned the ball over on downs as the team's drive near the end zone sputtered out. However, the team soon recovered a Kodiaks fumble inside the 10-yard-line. It took little time for the Falcons to score on a run in which the ball carrier went in through a huge hole, nearly untouched.

With the victory, the Scripps Ranch Jr. Pee Wee team earned a spot in the D3 Championship Game and home advantage against the Vista Panthers at Scripps Ranch High School on Saturday, Nov. 18 with a 10 a.m. kickoff.

The Jr. Pee Wee football team is not the only Scripps Ranch Pop Warner team to advance in competition. The Jr. Varsity Cheer squad will perform in the Cheer Regional Competition at 4:08 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19 in the San Diego State University Arena.
