Library closed; alternative sites available
The Scripps Miramar Ranch Library is now closed for the long anticipated renovation projects, including replacement of the roof and HVAC system. Work on the expansion of the lower parking lot will also resume after a more than two year pause. The library is projected to reopen in approximately eight months – possibly sometime during the coming winter if work goes smoothly.
It is no longer possible to return books to our community library during the entire time the library is closed. Books on hold that were not picked up prior to May 2 were transferred to the Mira Mesa Branch Library (8405 New Salem St.), which is the closest open library for most Scripps Ranch residents.
When placing new holds online, library patrons will be prompted to select a different library to pick up books through their San Diego Public Library (SDPL) accounts.
Library books and other materials can be returned to the Mira Mesa Branch Library or to any library in the SDPL system. Note that the Poway Library is not part of SDPL; rather it belongs to the San Diego County Library system, so do not attempt to return books there.
On the bright side, the Mira Mesa Library is currently one of the libraries still open on Mondays, although this could change after adoption of a City budget for the next fiscal year.
