SDG&E continues project on Pomerado
An ongoing San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) project to install a new 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between Sycamore Canyon and the Penasquitos substation is causing traffic delays along the eastern stretch of Pomerado Road. The traffic lights at the intersection of Avenue of Nations and Pomerado Road are blinking red during daylight construction and flag men are directing traffic, often stopping traffic one way and allowing vehicles to proceed the opposite direction as construction vehicles maneuver about the work area.
The local construction affecting the eastern part of Pomerado Road the past few weeks is part of the scheduled Segment A1, which takes place during daylight hours weekdays and Saturdays. The local daytime portion of the project began June 26 near the Elliott Field Access Road on Pomerado.
Work this Saturday, July 15, is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Pomerado Road south of Caminito Covewood, according to SDG&E.
Construction of the overhead parts of the project is scheduled this week, which includes construction of a new 230 kV transmission line, with the addition of five transmission structures between the Sycamore Canyon Substation and a trail in the vicinity of Stonebridge Parkway.
