First Day of School 2017
The first day of public school for the 2017-2018 school year was hectic but appeared to be a success for most schools in the area. A few tears were shed, mostly by parents of young children, but the morning’s drop-off was successful for the most part.
There were the expected incidents of parents hovering around classrooms to get a view of student’s new environs, but that was to be expected.
A handful of the local schools held volunteer fairs and coffee gatherings to meet principals following dropoff.
First day pickup
Parents picking up students on the first day of school at Miramar Ranch Elementary School and Marshall Middle School should be aware that construction is still underway on nearby streets.
Construction at the Miramar water treatment facility is still underway and this could delay traffic on Scripps Lake Drive as parents pick up students from Miramar Ranch Elementary.
SDG&E construction along the eastern part of Pomerado Road includes flagmen directing traffic at the crucial intersection of Avenue of Nations and Pomerado Road, the intersection leading to Marshall Middle School.
