A festive homecoming halftime

Scripps Ranch High School (SRHS) held its annual Homecoming Game Friday night, Sept. 8, and despite the team losing to University High School 20-61, spirits remained high.

Halftime festivities were highlighted by performances by the school’s marching band, rifle drill team, saber team and the cheerleaders. The Falcons Homecoming Court was presented near the end of halftime and, just as the final couples walked between the tunnel of sabers, rain drops began to fall. The rain was met by a spirited cheer from the student body section in the stands. The unexpected rain began to fall in large drops, but the downpour fizzled as the players took the field to begin the second half. The rain provided a fun and exciting element to the event, and many ran for cover since they were completely unprepared for the surprising precipitation.

Judging by the wide smiles, the fans and all participating in halftime were enjoying themselves. The traditional Homecoming Dance will be held Saturday night, Sept. 9, in the SRHS Quad from 8 to 11 p.m.
