MRE sends teams to FLL: The Aquabots, the Steel Bricks and the Robotic Outrageous Boys of Technology (R.O.B.O.T.) are the three Miramar Ranch First Lego League (FLL) teams that competed this month in the FLL Qualifying Competitions. The elementary school students competed with students from fourth to the eighth grade. The three MRE teams had to complete several difficult tasks, including Lego Robot Design and Programming, as well as Presenting a Project where the students had to identify and solve a societal problem concerning hydrodynamics. Team R.O.B.O.T., consisting of five fifth graders, competed on Nov. 4 and took home the Champion’s Trophy for being a team that excelled not only in the programming and project performance, but in demonstrating the core values throughout the competition. Team R.O.B.O.T. will compete on Dec. 3 at the Regional Competition at Legoland California.

SRSRC guest passes needed: Do you or someone you know have unused guest passes for the Scripps Ranch Swim and Racquet Club (SRSRC)? Donate them to the fifth grade promotion party. Every year, the fifth grade students at Miramar Ranch Elementary celebrate their promotion to sixth grade with a pool party at the SRSRC. The club allows Miramar Ranch Elementary to use its facilities and even the use of expired guest passes to cover any non-member students. But the passes must be turned in before the end of this year to be used in June, otherwise the school has to pay $10 for each non-member student. Anyone can donate unused passes.

There are two easy ways to give your old guest passes a new life: 1) Take them directly to the Aviary SRSRC office any time before Dec. 31 and tell the person on duty that the passes are for the Miramar Ranch Promotion Pool Party or 2) Place them in an envelope with the name “Lecia Hass” on the front and turn them into the Miramar Ranch Elementary office by Dec. 14.
