Councilman Kersey provides road updates

District 5 San Diego City Councilman Mark Kersey shared the following statement to highlight road work in Scripps Ranch:

“Slurry seal work continues on Spring Canyon Road in Scripps Ranch this week and next, extending the life of the street. To tackle the infrastructure backlog, while also maintaining roads that are in good condition, we concurrently do slurry seal and overlay road work throughout the City.

“Other roads that have been recently slurry sealed in Scripps Ranch include Normanton Way, Spencerport Way and Scripps Ranch Boulevard from Affinity Court to Spring Canyon Road. These roads contribute to Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s goal of fixing 1,000 miles of roads in five years, and we will surpass that goal this year.

“The Fiscal Year 2019 budget, which began on July 1, ensures the momentum to rebuild San Diego does not slow down. The FY19 budget allocates $76 million to fix the equivalent of 390 miles of street and includes the largest investment in infrastructure in City history at $559 million.

“Prop H, the Rebuild San Diego initiative I authored, will be at work for the second year since voters passed it in 2016. This fiscal year, the Infrastructure Fund dedicates $17.1 million to meaningful infrastructure improvements such as sidewalk repair and maintenance, street resurfacing, new street lights and park upgrades across the City.

“I’ve heard from many residents about the condition of Sunset Ridge and agree that it needs to be resurfaced as soon as possible. Rebuilding San Diego is an ongoing effort, and I’ll continue to advocate for the communities of District Five.”
