Scheduled roadwork already causing delays
SDG&E began roadwork Friday, July 27, causing delays at the intersection of Spring Canyon and Pomerado Road. Lane closures have been reported by residents along Spring Canyon Road, Stonebridge Parkway and Pomerado Road. The latest update from SDG&E, as of July 25, references significant road work and expected delays this weekend, as well.
San Diego Gas and Electric Company (SDG&E) has been building the Sycamore to Penasquitos 230 kilovolt (kV) Transmission Line Project (Project) along Pomerado Road. Construction of the Project is almost complete and Project restoration and repaving efforts are underway.
Pomerado Road will be temporarily closed on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29 from Avenida Magnifica to Spring Canyon Road from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
Traffic control will be set up and flaggers present during these activities. Residents to the south of Pomerado Road will have ingress/egress access during this time. Detours are subject to change depending on the location of construction activities.
Work activities consist of curb-to-curb grinding and removing of approximately 1 ½ inches of top layer of asphalt from the current road surface and repaving with new asphalt. Approximately one week after the Pomerado Road activity is completed, SDG&E’s contractors will return to finalize the repaving, restriping and replacement of traffic loop detectors. This work is anticipated to be completed during the day and take approximately five days to complete.
