Cross-country runners make a good showing

Runners on the Scripps Ranch High School cross-country team made an impressive showing during the Western League Cluster #1 meet held on Oct. 6 at the Morley Field City Conference Course.

The SRHS mens varsity team (3.11 miles) took first place, beating second-place Cathedral Catholic High. Junior Ken Belt took overall first place with a time of 15:57; the only sub-16 minute finish time and also a personal record.

The SRHS womens varsity team (3.11 miles) took second place behind first-place Cathedral Catholic’s. Junior Michaela Martin was the first SRHS runner to cross the finish line with a personal record time of 19:10; which was seventh overall.

Other results:
SRHS mens JV team (3.11 miles) took fourth place.

SRHS womens JV team (2.5 miles) took second place.

SRHS mens novice team (2.5 miles) took first place.

The next cross country meet for SRHS will be Wednesday, Oct. 13 back on the Morley Field City Conference Course in Balboa Park for the Western League Cluster #2 meet.
