Teams impress in So Cal State Cup

There were some noteworthy performances by Scripps Ranch Soccer Club (SRSC) squads that competed in the recently concluded 2021-2022 Southern California State Cup.
The Scripps United Girls Red 2010 team finished in second place after making it to the finals of their age group. The Scripps United Boys 2012 team made it to the semifinals, and the Scripps United 2010 team made it to the round of eight.
“We’re proud of all our teams for their hard work, and we would like to extend a special congratulations to three teams that did exceptionally well,” said Scripps Ranch Soccer Club director Danielle Jackson Schumman.
The Scripps Ranch United 2010 Girls went undefeated during pool play in their five matches with four wins and one draw, outscoring their opponents by 15 goals during that period.
Similarly, the SRSC 2010 Boys went undefeated during pool play in their five matches, also finishing with four wins and one draw and on top of Classic Cup Flight A, outscoring their opponents by 24 goals combined.
As for the 2012 Scripps United Boys team, they went undefeated during pool play by winning all of their five matches, scoring 12 goals while only giving up four to finish first in Flight H of Classic Cup.
The Scripps Ranch United 2010 Girls made it all the way to the final of their Classic Cup bracket, falling 2-0 to Los Angeles Soccer Club Girls; with the boys making it to the quarterfinals before falling to United SoCal Downey in a 4-2 match. The Scripps Ranch United 2012 Boys would reach the semifinals in their respective bracket before falling to United SoCal Los Angeles in dramatic fashion 1-0.
Jackson Schumman provided a quick update on the SRSC’s current season.
“We’re in the midst of spring soccer season. We have 30 teams with more than 200 kids who play weekly games in this fun, quick soccer experience,” she explained.
The last games of the spring soccer season are on March 27.
As for the summer and fall recreational season, registration opens in April and teams are formed the first week of August. Children with birth years 2004-2017 are welcome to play and no experience is necessary. Games kick off after Labor Day and run into November.
