SRHS boys end a great season
The Scripps Ranch High School varsity boys basketball season came to an end Feb. 21 with heartbreaking one-point loss in a CIF San Diego Division 2 quarterfinal game against Canyon Crest Academy.
It was a great matchup against two equally strong teams. The Scripps Ranch boys headed into the locker room at half-time down by only two points, 18-20. Fighting hard the second half, the Falcons had a couple of opportunities to win the game, but could not pull ahead, and the game ended with Canyon Crest Academy winning 42-41.
The Falcons won their first basketball league title in 13 years and then upset sixth-seeded Oceanside 52-43 on Feb. 18 in round one of the CIF tournament to advance to the quarterfinals.
