SCRIPPS RANCH WEEKEND: April 24-26, 2020
Heat advisory underway
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for San Diego County valleys through Saturday, April 25 – Including the cities of Escondido, El Cajon, San Marcos, La Mesa, Santee and Poway. Temperatures in the 90s are expected. Intense heat can cause heat-related illnesses.
The National Weather Service has also issued an Excessive Heat Warning for San Diego County Deserts, effective until Sunday, April 26 at 6 p.m. Dangerously hot conditions with daily high temperatures of 100 to 105 degrees are expected in desert areas.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room if one is available, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors by telephone, video conferencing or if in person, while adhering to social distancing recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
‘Help a Hero’ bags
Riley O’Day and Syra Walia of Scripps Ranch Girl Scout Troop 3077 are collecting items for “Help a Hero” bags as part of their Silver Award Project. Scripps Ranch has heroes – such as sanitation workers, grocery workers, postal workers and delivery drivers – and these Scouts want to show their appreciation. They are asking residents and businesses to donate items such as bit-sized chocolate, granola bars, Chapstick, mints/gum or travel size lotion. Their goal is to gather enough items for 50 bags. Residents may also suggest a hero who should be recognized.

Silent night
Raimo Leino, an admin for the Facebook hobby group Oldie & Goldie Scale Models, posted this peaceful photo from his balcony in Helsinki, Finland. He was lamenting the fact that it was so quiet and empty due to stay at home orders. While some group members agreed, others commented about the beautiful and peaceful view. Here is his post:
“Good Night to All Our Club Members … with a view from my Balcony – location Helsinki, Finland. As you can see, it’s very quiet … streets are completely empty because of the Corona Virus Quarantine – absolutely no life can be seen outside (well, then again I saw two wild rabbits tonight) … but anyway it´s sad, so sad. STAY SAFE & BE STRONG!”

I’m impressed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and amusing, and
without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem is something which too few folks are speaking
intelligently about. Now i’m very happy I found this during my hunt for something regarding this.
