The Silver birch tree Ken Smith planted 30 years ago in Rue Finisterre had to be cut down as it had developed a crack near the ground and could have fallen.

Betula pendula, commonly known as silver birch, is native to Europe and parts of Asia, though in southern Europe, it is only found at higher altitudes.
