Red Flag Warning has been issued

Red Flag Warning has been issued

(Sept. 5) The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from today to Sunday at 6 p.m.

A vegetation fire is burning in the area of Carveacre Road and Japutal Road in the Alpine area, according to CALFIRE. Those residing in the area and unable to evacuate due to the fire blocking the road should shelter in place.

The Red Flag Warning has been issued due to strong gusty winds, low humidity, and is in effect for all of San Diego County. Winds will be 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph and humidity will be around 10 percent.

In addition, the National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Warning which remains in effect until 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 7.
