Therapy dogs bring holiday joy to seniors
A weekly visit from a group of therapy dogs has proven life-changing for a group of San Diego seniors. The positive impact of reducing anxiety and stress is essential for this age demographic, especially during the holiday season. Ridgeview Health Center has teamed up with Love on a Leash to get residents in the holiday spirit as their favorite furry friends visit dressed in holiday attire with Santa and a few of his friends.
The health center prides itself on improving the quality of life for each resident. Because of this, the community is always strategizing to create the most impactful life-enrichment activities for those who call the community home. Studies show just 15 minutes with an animal helps to drop stress levels and creates those “feel good” serotonin hormone levels.
Ridgeview Health Center will hold special holiday events on Dec. 21 as Santa, his elves and even The Grinch will visit the seniors. Then, the therapy dogs will join the fun.
