CIF-SDS CHAMPIONS! SRHS cross country
Both the Scripps Ranch High School (SRHS) womens and mens cross country squads each captured the CIF-San Diego Division 2 Championships at a meet held at Morley Field on Nov. 16. The teams won the Championship races to qualify for the CIF State meet on Nov. 30 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
The division commanding win for the SRHS womens team was their third in a row. Scripps Ranch had four runners among the top 10 finishers. All seven SRHS runners finished in the top 25. The Scripps Ranch womens team was led by freshman Olivia Liu’s second place finish time of 18:16.1; just 2.3 seconds behind the winner.
For the mens team, their narrow win was their second in a row. They earned a score of 73 points; beating second place Mt. Carmel by 3 points. Scripps Ranch had three runners among the top 10 mens finishers. Scripps Ranch was led by junior Brandon Sun’s third place finish time of 16:05.9.
