SIR group thrives, offers abundance of activities
Members of the local chapter of Sons in Retirement (SIR), along with several spouses and partners, recently gathered for a group photo in front of Amazon following an engaging behind-the-scenes tour of the facility. The visit offered participants a fascinating look at the operations of one of the world’s leading technology and logistics companies, and served as another example of the group’s commitment to staying active, social and curious in retirement.
SIR is a well-established organization dedicated to enriching the lives of retired and semi-retired men through fellowship, activities and lifelong learning. The local branch continues to grow, welcoming new members who are interested in maintaining an active lifestyle while building meaningful connections.
The group meets regularly for a monthly lunch held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at Filippi’s Pizza Grotto on Mira Mesa Boulevard. These gatherings provide an opportunity for members to enjoy good food, hear guest speakers and stay informed about upcoming events.
In addition to monthly meetings, SIR offers a wide variety of activities to suit diverse interests. Upcoming events include a tour of the Julian Gold Mine, as well as ongoing opportunities for golf, hiking, poker, bowling, pickleball and wine tasting. Whether members are seeking outdoor adventure, friendly competition or simply social engagement, there is something for everyone.
