Tia Ramirez

Tia Ramirez is the only candidate in this race evaluated by the San Diego County Bar Association and rated “Qualified” to serve as a judge. Veteran San Diego Judge Daniel Goldstein stated, “Tia Ramirez is highly qualified, experienced, and has the integrity we can trust in a judge.”

A seasoned legal professional and dedicated public servant, Tia has spent nearly two decades serving the people of San Diego. A graduate of Rancho Bernardo High School and San Diego State University, her roots in this community run deep. Tia is a former Scripps Ranch resident, and her mother continues to reside in the community. She currently serves as a Chief Deputy City Attorney for the City of San Diego, where she works to protect the community from gun violence.

Tia is also a former domestic violence prosecutor who previously led the Domestic Violence Unit, where she worked to protect some of the most vulnerable members of our community and hold offenders accountable. She is also the only candidate in the race with judicial experience, having served as an Administrative Law Judge presiding over state hearings. In that role, she interpreted complex laws, made critical evidentiary rulings, and ensured every person appearing before her courtroom was treated with dignity and respect.

Her rare combination of courtroom advocacy, judicial experience, leadership, and public service uniquely prepares her to serve on the Superior Court bench with fairness, integrity, and sound judgment.

Tia has earned broad support throughout the community, including more than 100 endorsements from judges, law enforcement organizations, and community leaders, including the San Diego Police Officers Association and the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego County.

“As the wife of a police officer and military veteran, I understand how important it is to keep our families and communities safe,” Ramirez says.
