Falcon Wrestling Club

Free youth wrestling for Scripps Ranch

Scripps Ranch families now have a new opportunity for young athletes to learn the sport of wrestling at no cost.

The Falcon Wrestling Club launched during the summer of 2026 to provide local youth with an opportunity to learn wrestling, develop athletic skills, and build confidence, discipline and resilience in a positive environment.

The club is supported by the newly established Falcon Wrestling Club Booster Club, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting wrestling in the Scripps Ranch community. Through fundraising, donations and community support, the Booster Club is currently able to offer the youth wrestling program free of charge.

Why a free wrestling club?

For many sports, access begins almost anywhere. Kids can throw a football at a neighborhood park, shoot a basketball in a driveway, kick a soccer ball around an open field or play catch in the street. Wrestling is different.

Young wrestlers need a safe mat, appropriate space, training partners and knowledgeable supervision. There is no practical equivalent of the neighborhood basketball court or a game of two hand touch football. If 15 kids met at a community park and started wrestling, most people watching from a distance would probably think a fight had broken out.

Providing free access to the Scripps Ranch High School wrestling room removes one of the sport’s biggest barriers: simply having a place to wrestle.

The goal of Falcon Wrestling Club is to make that space available to the community and give young athletes an opportunity to dis-
cover the sport without requiring families to make a financial commitment before their child has even stepped onto a wrestling mat.

The club is currently focused on grade-school-age athletes and older, with both boys and girls welcome to participate. No prior wrestling experience is required.

Youth practices are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Scripps Ranch High School wrestling room.

The program is led by coaches from the Scripps Ranch High School wrestling program and gives younger athletes an opportunity to learn proper wrestling fundamentals while becoming part of the larger Falcon Wrestling community.

The club follows the same philosophy as the high school program: “Respect. Hard work. No excuses.”

Competition is available for athletes who are ready for it, but competition is not the requirement for participating. The focus is first on learning the sport, developing fundamentals, gaining confidence and creating an environment where young athletes want to continue coming back to the wrestling room.

The youth club also creates a pathway for local wrestlers to remain involved in the sport as they progress through school and eventually into the Scripps Ranch High School boys and girls wrestling programs.

The Falcon Wrestling Club Booster Club supports both the youth program and the Scripps Ranch High School wrestling programs. Fundraising helps provide equipment, training opportunities, tournament expenses, travel, and other resources for Falcon wrestlers.

The long-term goal is to establish a sustainable wrestling program within Scripps Ranch that gives local children an opportunity to discover the sport, develop over time and become part of the Falcon wrestling community.
