Celebrating excellence: Meet the 2026 Scholarship recipients

The Scripps Ranch Women’s Club (SRWC) is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 Scholarship Awards: Kailey Saipe and
Sonali Caffrey. Selected for their outstanding academic achievements, leadership and commitment to community service, both students were recognized at Scripps Ranch High School’s Annual Awards Ceremony on May 20.
This fall, Kailey will begin her academic journey at San Diego State University and ultimately hopes to continue her education at New York University as she prepares for a career in law. Sonali will attend UC Berkeley, where she plans to channel her passion for science and innovation into a future as an energy engineer.
The Women’s Club is honored to recognize and support these exceptional young women as they pursue their educational goals. According to Carolyn Locke, co-chair of the SRWC Scholarship Committee, “Meeting and interviewing Kailey and Sonali was truly inspiring. They exemplify the qualities of leadership, service and academic excellence that this scholarship seeks to recognize. We look forward to seeing all they accomplish in the years ahead.” Congratulations, Kailey and Sonali!
In celebration of their achievements, the scholarship recipients and their mothers were honored at a special luncheon hosted by the Scripps Ranch Women’s Club at Yanni’s in June.
The Women’s Club extends its sincere appreciation to the Scholarship Committee for its thoughtful review of applications, candidate interviews and selection of this year’s recipients. Co-chaired by Annette Stewart and Carolyn Locke, the committee also included Carol Battaglia, Lyn Cobb, Carol Treglio and Betty Robertson. We are grateful for their dedication and support of this important program that reflects the club’s longstanding commitment to educational achievement and investing in the future of our community.
Community Award recipients
Beyond our Scholarship Program, the Women’s Club remains dedicated to strengthening our community through its annual grant program. In 2026, the club provided grants to eight projects sponsored by local schools and nonprofit organizations, supporting initiatives that enhance educational opportunities and community life.

A special thank you goes to Vice President Chris Kniahynycky for her exceptional leadership in coordinating the 2026 SRWC Community Awards Program. From working closely with local schools and organizations to reviewing applications and guiding the selection process, Chris played a key role in ensuring the program’s success. Thank you, Chris! Your initiative and dedication to supporting our community program are deeply appreciated.
June was filled with opportunities to gather, celebrate and enjoy the friendships that make our organization so special. The month’s signature event was the Annual Summer Cocktail Party, graciously hosted by Carol and Tony Battaglia. The evening featured delicious refreshments, lively conversation, and plenty of laughter as members, spouses and guests came together to welcome the start of summer.
