Club members enjoy month of laughter, friendship and fun

The Women’s Club sparkled in October, as members embraced the Halloween spirit with witches’ hats, costumes, spooky activities and lots of laughter. Throughout the month, our various groups – including Bunco, Bridge, Fun and Games, Mahjong, and Canasta – enjoyed a festive time with clever decorations and deliciously themed treats. It was a month of laughter, friendship and fun, leading into a full calendar of programs in November.
November offered Women’s Club members a variety of wonderful activities – from wildlife to world-class music. With so many appealing options on the calendar, members could choose their favorites, while many joined in for them all! A special highlight was the outing to the Lions, Tigers and Bears Animal Sanctuary in Alpine. Members learned about the sanctuary’s mission to rescue and care for animals that can no longer live in the wild. We admired the beautiful lions, tigers, bears and other animals given a safe home there. It was an inspiring and educational experience to learn the stories of the rescued animals and the dedicated care they receive from the staff and volunteers at this remarkable refuge.
During the month, members attended the Metropolitan Opera’s live broadcast of Puccini’s “La Bohème” at Edwards Cinema. This beloved classic captivated us with its beautiful music and poignant story, making for a wonderful day of art, culture and shared enjoyment. Another highlight was the play “Master Class” at the Scripps Ranch Theatre, preceded by a lovely pre-theatre cocktail party hosted by Diana and Gary Whitney that set the stage for a delightful evening out. Ending the month on a high note, our Adventure Walking Group explored the scenic Mule Hill Trail in Escondido, enjoying the area’s natural beauty and good company along the way.
Our regular interest groups were active throughout the month, including Bridge, Bunco, Book Discussions, Arts and Culture, Fun and Games, Mahjong, Pickleball, and Scrabble. The newly formed Canasta Group got off to a lively start, with everyone agreeing it was great fun and sure to become a favorite. With so many enriching and enjoyable activities, November truly reflected the spirit of friendship, camaraderie and enthusiasm that make our club so special.
As the year draws to a close, the Women’s Club is excited to gather for our Annual Holiday Party at Yanni’s on Dec. 7. The evening will celebrate friendship, community and the joy of giving. Continuing a tradition of more than 20 years, members will once again support Hidden Valley House, a shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence, by donating gift cards, clothing, toys, books and school supplies to help brighten their holidays.
