Annual Rummage & Bake sale on the horizon

Fourth annual Rummage & Bake Sale
Our annual Rummage and Bake Sale spring fundraiser is right around the corner. We’ve set the date for Saturday, May 2. It will be held in the parking lot of Jerabek Elementary School from 8 a.m. to noon.
If you’d like to support us by donating items you no longer need, please contact our club President Craig Bratlien at craigbratlien@gmail.com or text him at (858) 945-2280. Donations will be accepted April 10-24. Please drop by and support our club by purchasing some delicious baked goods, home made by our club members or by picking up an item you just must have at a reasonable price. Proceeds from this fundraiser go to organizations we have chosen that help children throughout San Diego County and in our Scripps Ranch community.
Featured speaker
The featured speaker at our Feb. 17 meeting was our neighbor and fellow Scripps Ranch resident Richard Lederer. He spoke to a packed room at the Scripps Ranch Library. Since the date was in proximity to President’s Day, he captivated the audience with humor and interesting facts about our presidents. He is a well-known linguist, author, speaker and teacher.
March Student of the Month
Our club was proud to congratulate Sidney L. as our Student of the Month for March. A fifth grader at Jerabek Elementary, Sidney is a very well rounded student. She participates in sports, music and Girl Scouts outside of school. Her teachers specifically nominated her for her kindness and her willingness to help others. Our Club loves to present this award monthly to fifth graders who demonstrate such qualities as helpfulness and kindness.
Volunteering for Just in Time
Club members Craig Bratlien, Bill Jenkins and Paula Sassi volunteered for the organization Just In Time on Feb. 19. They assembled items for self-care kits. These kits will be given out by Just In Time at an event it is hosting for youths who have aged out of foster care.
