The Scripps Ranch Women’s Club (SRWC) recently gathered for one of our most anticipated annual events – the Mother’s Day Tea – held this year at Claudia’s Tea House on May 8. This year’s Tea held special significance as the Women’s Club proudly celebrated its 35th anniversary and honored 11 charter members who helped establish the club more than three decades ago.

It was a wonderful opportunity to recognize and express our gratitude to these founding members: Sue Cauble, Peggy Foster, Nancy Gaffrey, Judy Gagnon, Marianne Marion, Lauretta Johnson, Lynn Parke, Cindy Silady, Carolyn Walters, Barbara Wesser and Diana Whitney.

We also took this opportunity to warmly welcome 23 remarkable women who joined our group over the past year, each contributing her unique talents, experiences and interests to help enrich and strengthen our club.

A wide variety of social and interest-based activities are available to all of our members. Regular activity groups include Mahjong, Bridge, Bunco, Arts and Culture, Scrabble, Book Discussions,  Adventure Walks, Pickleball, and Fun and Games. The calendar is also packed with special events such as wine tastings, high teas, coffee klatches, museum visits, happy hours, luncheons, concerts and pre-theatre gatherings – offering something for every interest!

In addition to our social events, the Women’s Club remains deeply committed to supporting education through our Scholarship Programs. In May, the SRWC Scholarship Committee, led by co-chairs Jeanette Bossi and Annette Stewart, completed interviews and recommended recipients to the Women’s Club Board for the 2025 awards. A separate committee, chaired by Lynn Parke, also finalized the selection for the Kimbra Sellers Scholarship, which is awarded to a senior girl planning to pursue business studies. All scholarship recipients were recognized at the Scripps Ranch High School Awards Ceremony in late May. Continuing our tradition, we will celebrate these exceptional students and their mothers at a special luncheon at Yanni’s in June.

May also brought our Board together to allocate community grants. Local schools and nonprofit organizations in Scripps Ranch submitted funding requests, and we are proud to continue supporting worthwhile community initiatives alongside our dedication to academic scholarships.

Our Membership Drive is now underway (May through July), the time of year when current members renew their club membership and we invite new members to join us. In addition, the SRWC Nominating Committee has proposed a new Board for 2025-2026 to lead our club. The incoming Board will officially assume their leadership positions on Aug. 1.

Looking ahead, we are excited to kick off the summer season with our traditional Summer Cocktail Party, hosted in June by Diana and Gary Whitney. Partners and significant others are welcome to join us for an enjoyable evening with friends, both old and new.
