Club members enjoy a variety of fall activities

The Scripps Ranch Women’s Club enjoyed a full calendar of memorable activities in October, stretching from the San Diego mountains to the coast.
A special highlight was a delightful day in Julian, organized by our Social Committee: Connie Gallagher, Margaret Hardy and Barbara Hanson. Many thanks to Connie, Margaret and Barbara for planning one of our most popular gatherings! Members spent the day exploring the town’s charming shops, enjoying a delicious luncheon at Romano’s and, of course, savoring Julian’s famous apple pie.
Later in the month, our Adventure Walking Group took members on another scenic outing – a coastal walk along Solana Beach and Cardiff. These outings, always a favorite, are made possible through the planning efforts of activity coordinators Joni Low and Cathy Denis.
October brought out the spirit of fall and Halloween across our club’s interest groups. The Fun and Games group celebrated with a lively mix of Halloween-themed activities and challenges, while Bunco players enjoyed festive décor, tasty treats and even a few costumes throughout the month. If there had been a costume contest, the prize would have gone hands down to Paula Marrone, one of our Bunco coordinators, for her fabulous Dolly Parton look! It was a fun-filled October that truly captured the good times and creativity of the season.
As our club continues to grow, so do the opportunities for connection and fun. In October, we were excited to welcome several new groups to our calendar of events. A brand-new Canasta group, initiated by one of our members, Elizabeth Young, met for the first time and got off to a wonderful start. Thank you, Elizabeth, for your enthusiasm! We are also delighted to announce the launch of a fourth Bunco group, with Sandy Hagen-Ansert stepping in as facilitator. Thank you, Sandy, for helping make this possible! Adding even more variety, member Annette Stewart took the lead in starting a new Bridge group last month. We are grateful to Elizabeth, Sandy and Annette for their initiative and spirit. Our club is stronger and more vibrant because of members like you.
We would also like to express our gratitude to several dedicated members who work behind the scenes to enrich the warm and welcoming culture of our club. A special thanks goes to M’Lu Colbourn, our talented hospitality chair and “artist in residence.” M’Lu designs original, hand-crafted cards that brighten the days of new members and offer encouragement and support to those who need it most. We are also grateful to Pam Madigan who not only introduced our very popular Mahjong program several years ago, but also serves as our club’s webmaster. Pam ensures that our online information is current and keeps our website fresh with photos and highlights from recent events. Be sure to take a look and enjoy the special moments she captures.
November brings more exciting programs for the Women’s Club, highlighted by a visit to the Lions, Tigers and Bears sanctuary in Alpine and a live broadcast of the opera “La Bohème” from the MET at the Edwards Cinema Mira Mesa. November is also theater month, and our theater-lovers are looking forward to our traditional pre-theater party and a performance of “Master Class” at the Scripps Ranch Theatre.
In the Women’s Club, we always have room for new members and fresh ideas! There is every opportunity to enjoy social activities, explore, learn and even start a group of your own. For more information about the club, contact Lynn Parke at lparke@san.rr.com or visit our website at srwomensclub.org.
