Club members enjoy many enriching experiences

Between the inspiring tour of the Salk Institute and an unforgettable Beatles Tribute Concert, March was a month of enriching experiences for Women’s Club members.
Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Salk Institute is an architectural masterpiece that also houses some of the world’s most cutting-edge scientific research. It was an amazing experience for our members to immerse themselves in this beauty, art and innovation.
The Beatles Tribute Concert at the Poway Performing Arts Center transported us back in time when the Fab Four dominated the music of a generation. Many of us grew up with The Beatles, so it was a nostalgic experience as we listened to many of their classics, such as “All You Need is Love,” “Here Comes the Sun,” “Penny Lane” and “Come Together.”
In April, there was no shortage of standout moments, but the highlight was exploring the Little Italy ArtWalk showcasing hundreds of artists, enjoying live music performances and indulging in delicious Italian food.
We also visited the Leo Carrillo Ranch to explore California’s rich history and take in its stunning natural surroundings.
April was a theater month, and we attended the play “Mary’s Wedding” at Scripps Ranch Theatre. As always, we gathered at a pre-theater cocktail party, adding to the evening’s camaraderie and enjoyment. Thank you Ann and Tom Massey for graciously hosting our theater gathering.
Each month, the Women’s Club offers a variety of inviting activity groups including Bridge, Book Discussions, and Bunco as well as Arts and Culture, Adventure Walks, Fun and Games, Pickleball, and Scrabble. Our monthly Adventure Walks are always a highlight – an enjoyable way to engage with fellow members while exploring nature and the scenic beauty of San Diego. In March, we hiked the Lake Hodges Trail and took in the beautiful views of the lake, dam and gorge; and this month, we are excited to explore the Solana Beach Interpretive Trail.
Looking ahead, May brings the annual Mother’s Day and New Member Tea at Claudia’s Teahouse, a special event where we celebrate our new members and strengthen our friendships. This is a not-to-be missed occasion!
Our Scholarship committees are currently in full swing reviewing applications and conducting interviews in order to make award recommendations to the Scripps Ranch Women’s Club board. In early May, the board will make the final determinations for both the 2025 Scholarship and Community Giving Awards.
We welcome new members to join in the fun and camaraderie, as well as help us expand our offerings with new interest groups that reflect the diverse tastes of our membership. If you are interested in becoming a member or have any questions, please contact our Membership Chair Lynn Parke at lparke@san.rr.com.
