Craft Fair is coming this fall: This year, the Kiwanis Club of Scripps Ranch will be having our annual craft fair in October at the Ellen Browning Scripps Elementary School parking lot. We had more than 40 exhibitors last year, and this year we are planning for even more.  We will also feature some great new attractions for both adults and kids. If you are a crafter or vendor who would like to reserve a booth to display your wares, please contact Sue Lloyd at suelloyd7@gmail.com.

Key Club member awarded: At our June 3rd meeting, we presented Mira Mesa High School student and Key Club member Steven Hernandez with a special award for all he has done for Kiwanis. Steven has been a tremendous help in our fundraising and community service projects, and it was an honor to recognize his efforts. We look forward to working with Steven and his fellow Key Club members in the new school year!

Kiwanis Supports S.T.E.P. services in Murphy Canyon: At our June 3 meeting, Barbara Fiorina of S.T.E.P. (Support The Enlisted Project) visited our group to discuss services they provide to junior enlisted members, veterans and families, including those affected by the recent plane crash in Murphy Canyon. The crash has created serious challenges for nearly 50 families residing in Murphy Canyon military housing. Kiwanis has often supported S.T.E.P. with monetary donations and volunteer efforts, and at our meeting, we presented Barbara with a donation for the Murphy Canyon families. We also discussed volunteer opportunities to further help the cause.

Two Students of the Month top off the school year: In May, our Kiwanis club honored our last two Students of the Month for the 2024-2025 school year: Jerabek Elementary School fifth graders Maia W and Embrey S! Maia was praised for her compassion, community service and ability to make everyone feel like part of the group. She thinks outside the box, adding extra value to all of her activities. Embrey was praised for looking out for other students, volunteering and being her best self every day. She is a thoughtful role model with integrity and a good moral compass. Congratulations to these two deserving award winners!

The Kiwanis Club of Scripps Ranch is a local volunteer group that supports kids and our community. We meet at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Whispering Ridge clubhouse at 12465 Oakfort Court. For information, please stop by a meeting, visit scrippsranchkiwanis.org, follow us on Instagram at kiwanisscripps or contact Craig Bratlien at craigbratlien@gmail.com.
