CyberPatriot’s cyber tips #8
The Scripps Ranch High School (SRHS) Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps has a branch dedicated to cyber security. This group participates in a national cyber security program with competitions called CyberPatriot. Here are this month’s tips:
• Take some time to learn about basic computer functions and networking. If you feel comfortable, take the next step by learning some basic Linux commands. Nothing fancy, just you becoming a more cyber-secure individual. I personally recommend the NDG Linux course on Cisco’s Networking Academy (netacad.com).
• Unsure of what a link does or suspicious about it? Try hovering over it with your mouse and look in the bottom left corner, that should give the destination address. Also, if a link is constantly redirecting you, it is often a good idea to exit the tab.
Senior Nathan Min, commander; sophomore Veer Chopra, sergeant of SRHS CyberPatriot; and sophomore Delbert Tran, CyberPatriot NCO; are leading the CyberPatriot branch at SRHS AFJROTC.
