In May, with newly elected leadership in place, the Scripps Ranch Welcome Club celebrated with a Coffee Klatch at the home of JoAnn Farmen, outgoing president.

A Gadabouts adventure, led by Pam Savelsberg, was taken to Summers Past Farms in Alpine for a tour of the gardens and lunch at a nearby restaurant. An outdoor TGI gathering at a private Scripps Ranch hummingbird haven made for a delightful Friday evening among the birds, flowers and friends. All the usual monthly activities like trail walks, Bunco, book clubs and crafts went on during May while plans for June were being finalized.

Coming up next month are a pre-theatre dinner party and taking in a performance at Scripps Ranch Theatre. Another monthly Coffee Klatch at the Community Park is planned  because the unique venue as so popular with members earlier in the spring. Also, a Gadabout to savor the unique characters and relationships in “Downton Abby” will happen as soon as the long-awaited movie opens and tickets are available.

With pleasant evening temperatures making it possible, another TGI will take place at a member’s home. This time it will be on a Saturday. As always, the shared plates of delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres will fill the table and tempt the partiers.

Meanwhile, all the regular daytime activities will keep members in touch and enjoying their favorite pastimes. June’s monthly meeting on June 13 at the Community Center will have a presentation by Scripps Ranch Theatre describing its offerings for the upcoming season.

Looking forward to July’s Welcome Club traditional Salad Supper, JoAnn Farmen has announced the theme for the popular event. Polka Dots and Flip Flops will inspire colorful contributions to the decorations and gift baskets.
