Gardeners to focus on drier climate growing techniques
By Denise Stewart
The next two meetings of the Scripps-Mesa Garden Club will be focused on learning more about how to handle the current drier growing conditions that are challenging us.
The Feb. 25 meeting at the local library Community Room will feature Master Gardener Debbie Dunn. Her talk, starting at 6 p.m., will be “Waterwise Flower Power.”
On March 25, the monthly meeting’s topic will be “Drought Tolerant Plants and Landscapes,” to be presented by Master Gardener Cindy Brueks.
Last month, the Garden Club members learned more about how to plan a rose garden and how to have their roses bloom abundantly. Irrigation, of course, was a major point.
The Scripps-Mesa Garden Club has been meeting since 1993. In addition to the monthly gatherings for presentations at the library in the darker evenings, and garden tours in the warmer, brighter ones, the club sponsors a website available to anyone with an interest in plants. Check out scrippsmesagardenclub.com and learn more about our community’s natural environment, flora and fauna, and what is planted in your own back yard.
