We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on three exceptional students who have been selected as this year’s Scripps Ranch Women’s Club (SRWC) Scholarship recipients: Cecilia (CJ) Ippolito, Karina Megan Ford and Kate Nahrstedt. Cecilia and Karina have each received a 2025 SRWC General Scholarship, awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence and a strong commitment to community service. Kate is the recipient of this year’s Kimbra Sellers Business Scholarship, a special award designated for an outstanding student with aspirations in the field of business.

2025 Community Awards highlights

In addition to our Scholarship Programs, the Scripps Ranch Women’s Club continues its commitment to enriching our community through annual grants. This year, we were pleased to support a variety of schools and organizations that are making a positive difference in the lives of Scripps Ranch residents.

This year’s Community Award recipients include:

• EBS Elementary School – Robotics/STEAM Program

• Dingeman Elementary School – Makerspace/STEAM initiatives

Scripps Ranch High SchoolScience Department Anatomy Project

Scripps Ranch Theatre Children’s Summer Camp – Mary Poppins Jr. Musical

• Symphony in the Park – Program support for free summer concerts

We would like to extend our appreciation to the members of the Women’s Club Scholarship Committees for their time and effort in reviewing applications, interviewing candidates and recommending awards. Two outstanding committees led our Scholarship efforts. The SRWC General Scholarship Committee,
co-chaired by Annette Stewart and Jeanette Bossi, included Carol Battaglia, Carolyn Locke and Carol Treglio. The Kimbra Sellers Scholarship Committee, chaired by Lynn Parke, was supported by Judy Gagnon, Mary Ann Harper, Helen Smith and Sharon Worman. We sincerely thank both groups for their time, dedication and thoughtful work!

For the Community Awards Program, Vice President Beth Surrell was directly involved in reviewing applications and recommending recipients. Thank you, Beth for your leadership and dedication!

Summer has arrived and with it comes one of the Women’s Clubs favorite pastimes – summer reading! Our two Book Discussion groups are diving into thought-provoking books this season. In June, the Ranch Readers group enjoyed a discussion of the novel “James” by Percival Everett, led by Carol Murphy. “James” offers a reimagining of the classic “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” told from the perspective of the runaway slave, Jim. Our second Book Group enjoyed a discussion, led by Liz Robert, of “The Lost Man” by James Harper. This is an enthralling mystery and psychological drama involving three brothers in the remote Australian outback! Happy reading!

Beyond books, our year-round Interest Groups remain active with a variety of engaging activities – Arts & Culture, Bunco, Mahjong, Pickleball, Adventure Walks, Fun & Games and Scrabble. June also featured a full calendar of social events, highlighted by our Annual Summer Cocktail Party at the home of Diana and Gary Whitney. This lovely evening brought together members, friends, and partners for great food, wine, laughter and connection. Thank you to everyone who helped make June such a meaningful and memorable month!
