Kiwanis Club holds successful Rummage sale
The Kiwanis Club of Scripps Ranch was very busy with our third annual Kiwanis Rummage and Bake Sale on April 5.
We took over the Jerabek Elementary parking lot from 8 a.m. to noon and had a wonderful assortment of great merchandise at very reasonable prices. We had household items, furniture, toys, décor, clothing, electronics, tools and so much more. Our always popular bake sale was a big success as well. People enjoyed the variety of treats that were all baked by our fabulous members.
Our club would like to send a huge thank you to the many community members who were so nice to donate items for our event. You all helped us generate funds that we will use to support future projects for kids and our community.
At our March 18 club meeting our Kiwanis Club was very excited to honor Ellen Browning Scripps Elementary School student Aishani A as our Student of the Month! A well-rounded hard worker and a poised leader, Aishani was praised for being a team player who helps to keep everyone on task in her class. She excels in all subjects and sets a high standard of excellence. Congratulations, Aishani, on a job well done!
We had a wonderful presentation at our April 1 club meeting by local sailor Dan Merino. He presented a very captivating story about what it takes to plan and win the Transpac race from San Pedro, Calif., to Honolulu, Hawaii. Dan spent years preparing his 37-foot sailboat to meet the stringent mechanical and safety requirements and assembled a crew that would be up for the challenge. All that hard work paid off, as they won the prestigious race, making Dan’s hometown proud!
The Kiwanis Club of Scripps Ranch is a local group of volunteers who support kids and our community through many local projects and donations to important causes. We meet at 5:30 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Whispering Ridge clubhouse at 12465 Oakfort Court.
