Lacrosse team keeps improving
By Hector Trujillo
With 10 games left in the regular season, the Scripps Ranch High School mens varsity lacrosse team will take on Grossmont High on the road on Wednesday, March 26 before hosting Francis Parker on Saturday.
Despite getting off to a slow start in 2025, the Falcons have shown signs of improvement compared to the end of last season, including a valiant effort in a one-goal loss to Westview on March 1.
“This season is going to be a growing year,” said head coach Bo Francy. “We had a lot of great players last year and we still have a lot of great players, but we’re figuring out where to utilize the players best.”
Scripps Ranch High will take on Menlo School from Atherton, Calif., on March 31 before facing off with Patrick Henry High on April 11, and then closing its four-game home-stand versus Village Christian High from Sun Valley on April 17.
“We also have a lot of brand new players who have come over from football and other sports such as soccer that have been a great addition,” Francy said. “They’re still catching up to learn while we’re figuring out our identity and where players need to be to best help the team.”
The Falcons will go on the longest road-stretch of the season starting with a meeting against La Jolla High on April 23, followed by a match versus St. Augustine on April 25, and closing out against Cathedral Catholic High on April 28.
This year’s squad has six seniors on the roster along with several standout juniors like Evan Gaddis and Arjun Wimmer, with midfielders Evan Deitz and Dylan Tshrin also being top contributors to keep on eye on.
“We are a very young team, and lacrosse is still a growing sport for us in Scripps Ranch,” said Francy, who is serving his third year at the helm. “Our goal this season is going to be to get as many sticks in youth players’ hands as possible because it’s one of those sports that takes from so many others. My hope is Scripps Ranch continues to be competitive by having successful seasons.”
The Falcons close out the regular season on April 30 against Point Loma High and then return home for the finale versus Coronado High on May 2.
