IDEA Lab: Discover the library’s IDEA Lab, your space to imagine, design and create using 3D printers, a Glowforge laser engraver/cutter, or Cameo Silhouette 4. The IDEA Lab is open to community members on Tuesdays from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m. For information, visit srfol.org or come by during open hours. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced maker, our team will help you bring your ideas to life.
Grace’s Book Nook: Grace’s Book Nook, the used bookstore in the library, is open Tuesdays through Saturdays during library hours. The next Second Saturday “pop-up” sale is planned for April 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature an expanded inventory and shopping area.
Library Programs for children, teens, families
• Morning Storytime: Every Wednesday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. in the Community Room.
Perfect for young children and their caregivers.
• Pajama Storytime: Every Tuesday from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. in the Children’s Area. Pajamas are encouraged, but not required.
• Maker Space Workshops: Fridays during March from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the Seminar Room. Build, design and engineer your way through fun challenges like popsicle stick bridges, spaghetti and marshmallow towers, wooden cars, and more! Ideal for younger engineers (grades 1-5) ready to explore basic concepts of engineering. Space is limited; registration is encouraged: https://sandiego.librarymarket.com.
• Qube Quest: Problem Solving in Action: Saturdays (except for second Saturday of the month) from 11 a.m. to noon in the Seminar Room. Join us for an exciting student-led STEAM series that brings problem-solving and critical thinking to life. Designed especially for elementary-aged students. • Robo Ready: Intro to Robotics and 3D Design: Saturdays (except for second Saturday of the month) from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Seminar Room. Registration required: https://sandiego.librarymarket.com. Ages 7-16.
• “Doodly-Doos” Art Classes: April 4, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to create a standing wire mobile.
