Library hosts event, has books for sale
Volunteers appreciated
Volunteers at Scripps Miramar Ranch Library were honored at a festive appreciation luncheon hosted by Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library (SRFOL). This annual event, organized by party planner extraordinaire and SRFOL board member JoAnn Sloan, featured a Happy Birthday! theme, to highlight the 32nd anniversary of the opening of our current library building (March 1993) and celebrate each of these wonderful, dedicated volunteers! Coincidentally, the date of the event just happened to be the actual birthday of SRFOL president Jan McGinn.
Book shopping opportunities
Grace’s Book Nook, the used bookstore in the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library, is closed April through much of May due to the fire suppression system replacement project. During this time, you’re invited to take advantage of the opportunities to shop for bargain books every day during library hours from numerous carts in the library. Volunteers are updating the stock frequently, so be sure to check out the many great books at stock-and-save prices! Several “pop-up” sales featuring an expanded selection of books are planned for May 10; and May 21, all from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Grace’s Book Nook has an eclectic selection of antiquarian, collectible, vintage and out-of-print books – all at unbelievable prices! During the Book Nook’s temporary closure, there will be opportunities to explore these books at the Special Pop-up Sales in May. Or make an individual appointment to peruse our stock of these very special books – just email booknook@srfol.org! These unique and often beautiful books can make a wonderful gift for bibliophile moms, dads, grads, birthday honorees or just because.
While your tax-deductible donations of gently used books are always welcome, due to storage space constraints, we’d appreciate your holding on to these for a few weeks, if possible, until the Book Nook is accessible again. Visit srfol.org for updates or email booknook@srfol.org with any questions.
