Local club tours members’ gardens
By Denise Stewart
As the evenings in May lengthen, the Scripps-Mesa Garden Club will venture forth from meeting indoors at the Community Center to tour the gardens of members. Karen Lopez, co-president of the club, will host the first tour of the outdoor season at her large fire-resistant backyard. Karen is taking some of the first steps to make her yard fire safe so she can hopefully maintain her home’s fire insurance. She has valuable information to share.
June and July meetings will also be among the buds and blooms of other members’ gardens. August’s meeting will be a summer potluck in the beautifully planted backyard of another member.
On Earth Day, Master Gardener Linda Stewart ended the club’s indoor meeting season with her talk “Happy House Plants, Happy Home.” Linda shared a variety of techniques that maintain decorative plants that clear the air indoors and beautify our homes.
