Local Everbowl changes ownership
By John Gregory
The Everbowl super foods location in Scripps Ranch, 9844 Hibert St. in the same shopping center as Trader Joe’s market, has new owners and there is a big Scripps Ranch connection.
First of all, Everbowl founder Jeff Fenster, a well-known entrepreneur, is a graduate of Scripps Ranch High School. Then there are Jeff Bristol and Justin Nocella, two local residents who are part of the new four-partner ownership team that has recently taken over the Scripps Ranch Everbowl franchise.
“Jeff (Fenster) is one of the most famous or well-known people to have graduated from Scripps Ranch High School,” Bristol said. “I’ve always heard his name and known about the brand, and I’ve frequented this Everbowl location because I’m a fan of the healthy, nutritious acai bowls.”
Bristol and Nocella have children who attended the same preschool in Scripps Ranch, and the partners are friends. The former owner of the franchise decided to get out of the business, so the Scripps Ranch locals became partners once they learned about the opportunity.
Bristol is familiar to many in Scripps Ranch because he owns the well-known Fitness Quest 10 gyms – one at 9972 Scripps Ranch Blvd. and the other at 10625 Scripps Poway Parkway.
“Our connection to the community and the fact that Fitness Quest 10 is a pillar of health and fitness in our community, and the fact that Everbowl – even though it’s in a different lane – it’s the same category of health and wellness,” Bristol said. “Our brands both are aligned by the fact that we’re trying to bring healthy lifestyles to the community. That’s where Everbowl really aligns with what we’re doing here at Fitness Quest 10. … It made sense for so many reasons. … It’s a great brand. … I’m excited to introduce more people to this.”
Everbowl offers its customers an assortment of healthy bowl combinations, usually starting with an acai base. An assortment of fruits and other toppings are available. A selection of smoothies is also on the menu. Hungry customers can also order a snack on top of toast with health-boosting toppings such as avocados, bananas and even marinated tomatoes.
“Acai bowls are the signature items. There are different types of custom bowls,” Bristol said. “It’s delicious. It’s nutritious. There are a lot of different toppings.”
Bristol explained that he hopes to combine the health and fitness lifestyle emphasis of Fitness Quest 10 with that of Everbowl to make an even bigger impact on the community and give back in many different areas.
“I have lots of plans with Everbowl in ways I want to get it out to the community. … I think it’s such an awesome thing to teach people at a young age about healthy and nutritious snacks. For example, how Everbowl could be a great choice for kids instead of ice cream or something. It definitely aligns with that type of healthy lifestyle choices for food,” Bristol said.
“I would like to get Everbowl involved with a lot of things we do at Fitness Quest 10 already. I support the jog-a-thons at the local schools and the different spring fairs and sports programs through the schools and Pop Warner and the Soccer Club,” he added. “I’d like to support different sports organizations by educating them about why it’s a great nutritious snack; why it’s a good pre-game option. We could teach the residents of Scripps Ranch to live healthier lives through nutrition and through exercise.”
