Market will host Winter Celebration

Families looking to keep the holiday season going are invited to the Winter Celebration at the Scripps Ranch Farmers Market on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. The market will offer an evening of food, music and family-friendly activities.
A visit from Santa Claus is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring cameras or cell phones to take free photos with Santa. Candy canes will also be handed out to visitors.
Children can enjoy a 20-foot inflatable obstacle course set up at the front of the market, designed as a maze with slides and fun challenges. A bubble waffle and ice cream booth will be on hand, along with holiday pastries created by local pastry chefs.
“This is a way to create memories with your family that will last forever,” said market manager Beverly Cassity. “We encourage families to come, teach their kids about talking to the farmers and vendors, and enjoy an activity together.”
Food options from around the world will be available, including treats from a new bakery featuring seasonal sourdough breads, cinnamon rolls and other festive confections. With weather permitting, visitors may also find roasted chestnuts, kettle corn and additional holiday snacks.
“A DJ will play holiday music throughout the evening as guests explore vendor stalls, shop for gifts and sample seasonal items,” Cassity said.
Strolling carolers will wander through the market singing for the shoppers, adding to the festive atmosphere.
This year marks the fifth annual Winter Celebration, a tradition that has grown into a popular community gathering blending local food, entertainment, activities and family fun.
“Whether families come to meet Santa, try the obstacle course, enjoy holiday treats, or simply soak in the festive setting, the Winter Celebration offers a joyful way to celebrate the season together,” Cassity said.
