It was a Spring Tea celebrating new members of the Welcome Club that inspired a list of additional activities for all the club to select from. A variety of card games and wine tasting topped the suggestions offered by women at the Tea. With the enthusiasm of the new members supporting them, board members now have plans underway to make those events happen.

Meanwhile, the club’s usual busy calendar is adding back its warm weather evening event known as a TGI. A potluck supper, a comfortable backyard and friendly guests are perfect ingredients for weekend get togethers. The Welcome Club has been gathering for TGIs for decades, and they have perfected this favored summer occasion to enjoy their friends.

The year-round meetings of book clubs, Bunco players, crafters, hikers, theatergoers, Gadabouters and coffee drinkers are ongoing.

The Welcome Club’s April monthly meeting on the second Monday at the Community Center featured local author Alex Kecskes who has recently published his first book titled “The Healer,” a romantic novel. Alex shared his experience in writing the book and getting it published. Since he left us hanging on a cliff with his first book, he said he is now writing a sequel.

The group that regularly attends performances at Scripps Ranch Theatre met mid-month for their pre-play potluck and then went on to “Mary’s Wedding.” Their next event will be in June to view “Unnecessary Farce,” the last play in Scripps Ranch Theater’s current season. The play is known for its humor and has won multiple awards and will make for another enjoyable evening.

May’s monthly club meeting will be the election of new board members and the celebration of out-going officers and their service to the club. Bev Macho, Anne Steel and Sue Cauble will return to the board and continue their contributions. Sue Dunigan has offered to take on the duties of organizing meeting programs. Sharon Hays is ready to take over membership duties.
