Soccer team wins Holiday Jubilee
The Scripps Ranch High School womens varsity soccer team captured the platinum championship game of the San Diego Holiday Jubilee soccer tournament in a game against Mt. Carmel High on Dec. 21.
The championship was a great game. Scripps Ranch High scored to lead by two points, however, Mt. Carmel was able to tie the game late. Each team had multiple scoring opportunities in the two overtime periods. The game was decided by penalty kicks with the difference being Scripps Ranch High goalie Kate Nahrstedt denying Mt. Carmel’s first penalty kick. The final score was 2-2 (5-4 in PKs).
The San Diego Holiday Jubilee High School Girls Soccer Tournament was hosted by University City High School. Scripps Ranch won Group B to advance to the championship final game against Group A winner Mt. Carmel. Scripps Ranch opened the tournament play with a 1-1 tie against Olympian High. Scripps Ranch then beat Steele Canyon by a score of 2-1 and Francis Parker by a score of 4-2.
Scripps Ranch High will play again Jan. 7 at home against Steele Canyon High at 6 p.m.
