At the Women’s Club, there is always something new to discover, learn and enjoy! Our diverse range of programs offers opportunities to pursue hobbies and favorite pastimes, explore new interests and connect with others. From lively social events to arts and culture, games and exciting adventures, there is truly something for everyone.

February and March were filled with a wonderful array of activities, including a fascinating tour of the San Diego Central Library, adventurous walks through the Zoo Safari Park and along the scenic Lake Hodges Trail, a docent-led architectural tour of the iconic Salk Institute, a pre-theatre Cocktail Party, and an unforgettable Beatles concert at the Poway Performing Arts Center. These events provide only a few examples of the varied social and cultural experiences Women’s Club members have come to appreciate!

In April, our members can enjoy the Little Italy ArtWalk, which is a street festival featuring hundreds of artists, live music and tasty Italian food.  There will also be a tour at the Leo Carrillo Ranch where the past comes alive with historic adobe buildings and artifacts which reflect California’s rich history. In addition, our theater enthusiasts are excited about the play “Mary’s Wedding” at the Scripps Ranch Theatre, along with the social enjoyment of a pre-theater party.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to our Social Committee for organizing this year’s exceptional social programs, as well as the delicious luncheons that accompany them. A special thank you goes to Patti Beaver, Connie Gallagher and Margaret Hardy for their hard work. We also want to acknowledge and thank Krissy Palmer for coordinating the club’s Theater Group and the pre-theater parties.

This month, one of our book discussion groups, Ranch Readers, is thrilled to welcome local Scripps Ranch author Alex A. Kecskes who recently published his historical romance “Healer: A Novel.” We
are looking forward to an engaging conversation with the author about the many themes in this highly-rated debut book, which weaves together history, medicine, science fiction and romance. A special thank you to our Coordinator Lin Schoeneberg for organizing this exciting opportunity to connect with the author for what promises to be a fascinating discussion.

In addition to our book discussion groups, the Women’s Club offers a variety of regular activity groups that appeal to a wide range of tastes, personalities and interests. These include the Fun and Games Group, Mahjong, Bridge, Bunco, Arts and Culture, Coffee Klatch, Walking Adventures, Scrabble, and Pickleball. We are very grateful to our activity coordinators for their dedication and hard work in keeping these groups vibrant and engaging: Barbara Measelle and Deidre Spruce (Arts and Culture), Pam Madigan (Mahjong), Carol Murphy (Fun and Games), Joni Low (Exercise/Social Walks), Becky Carl-quist (Bridge), Rita Hubbard, Wendy Higgins and Carol Merten (Bunco), Lin Schoeneberg (Scrabble), and Barbara Hanson (Pickleball). Thank you all for your contributions!

A cornerstone of the Women’s Club is our dedication to offering scholarships and supporting community initiatives.
