The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch
All 55 acres of ranunculus are in full bloom at The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch and there are even more reasons for either a first time or a return visit. The Flower Fields at Carlsbad are only half a mile from the ocean. The Sea of Sunflowers was set to bloom in late April, adding 5-acres of sunflowers in a dazzling array of colors. Embark on a tractor wagon ride to arrive directly at the heart of a sunflower sanctuary. The Flower Fields suggests a mid-week visit to get the best photo opps! Take in the traveling sculpture exhibit, Glass in Flight, by celebrated artist Alex Heveri.

‘Regency Girls’ extended
The Old Globe announced the pre-Broadway engagement of the world premiere musical “Regency Girls” has been extended for one week due to popular demand. This raucous and daring new musical comedy features a book by Emmy-winning writers Jennifer Crittenden and Gabrielle Allan, music by three-time Emmy-nominated composer Curtis Moore and lyrics by two-time Tony and Grammy nominee Amanda Green. Performances will now play through May 11 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

‘James and the Giant Peach’
San Diego Junior Theatre presents “Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach,” a magical adventure for the whole family! This enchanting musical adaptation of Dahl’s beloved story promises a delightful journey filled with adventure, imagination and unforgettable music. Viva La Música returns to SeaWorld
Viva La Música, a vibrant festival celebrating the richness of Latin culture, returns to SeaWorld San Diego every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 2 to May 18, offering live music from top Latin performers, beloved artists, incredible cuisine and family-friendly entertainment. Roaring 1920s twist on ‘Twelfth Night’
The Grossmont College Theatre Arts Department announces its upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” directed by Linda Libby. Living Seas
Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego announced that the new exhibition, Living Seas, will officially open to the public May 22. Living Seas allows guests to explore the wonders of our ocean planet on an unforgettable, immersive journey to uncover the splendor of the Pacific. Additions include many new interactive features such as a giant Pacific octopus habitat that invites guests to venture through a round portal into the hidden world of one of the most intelligent animals in the ocean. A new Scripps Pier habitat creates an “under-the-pier” experience for aquarium guests that evokes the feeling of standing beneath the iconic pier with an up-close view of life on the pilings. An expanded Open Ocean habitat features the Pacific’s deeper waters complete with schooling fish and the aquarium’s popular rescued Loggerhead Sea Turtle. The Tropical Coral habitat that is more than four times the size of the previous one includes a step-in viewing window.
