Water polo team wins championship

The number 3 seeded Scripps Ranch High School (SRHS) varsity womens water polo team captured the 2026 CIF San Diego Section Girls Water Polo Championships Division 3 in the championship final by defeating first-seeded Classical Academy 6-4 on Feb. 21.

Classical Academy scored the first goal of the match. However, Scripps Ranch High scored five unanswered goals through the middle of the fourth quarter. Classical Academy drew within one score until SRHS was able to obtain an insurance goal with 1:27 remaining.

The SRHS team is now headed to the 2026 CIF SoCal Girls Water Polo Championship – Division III with a first round game away against Schurr High in Montebello, Calif., Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. SRHS is seeded sixth in the State tournament and Schurr is seeded third.
