MCASD gala returns to Andy Warhol era
The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego’s annual benefit night takes on new life within the urban setting of the Jacobs Building at MCASD Downtown, 1100 Kettner Blvd. on Saturday, July 29 with its Pop Factory fundraiser. The event will transport guests back to the late 1960s and the Andy Warhol era.
Various ticket options allow guests to attend the entire evening or the After Party only. Tickets for the entire evening may be purchased at one of three levels named after Andy Warhol's “famed” superstars: Candy Darling ($650 per person), Ultra Violet ($1,250 per person), and Penny Arcade ($2,500 per person).
Dinner guests will be treated to a classic Americana-style farm-to-table family style feast courtesy of MIHO Catering Co. Local flavors and ingredients will be complemented by creative craft cocktails provided by Barcon Cocktail Co., the masterminds behind Sycamore Den.
The After Party is where you’ll find your 15 minutes of fame. You'll be hosted all night to Factory Party-themed cocktails, sweet and savory mini-pie treats from Pop Pie Co., a Velvet Underground-inspired rock band playing legendary hits of the era, a classic Warhol screen test station, and a collection of DJs curated by A Ship In The Woods sure to have you partying all night long.
MCASD’s galleries will be de-installed of artwork to make way for this transformational evening, with one very special exception — MCASD’s very own iconic Warhol soup can prints will be on display for the night.
A cocktail reception will be held at 6 p.m.; dinner will be served at 7 p.m.; and the After Party will run from 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Join gala chairs Jay and Jennifer Levitt, along with fellow art supporters, artists, and MCASD members for this night of dining, dancing, and philanthropy. All funds raised provide vital support for MCASD’s exhibitions and education programs.
