Fit-A-Palooza
The Scripps Ranch Swim & Racquet Club is holding Fit-A-Palooza from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Aviary club location, 9875 Aviary Drive. The event includes 30-minute blast classes on the basketball court; Metafit with Heidi; Hardcore with Heidi; Essentrics with Lisa (a new group class); and Yoga with Judi. Food trucks at Newtopia
Fresh seafood comes to Scripps Ranch this weekend in the form of a food truck as Cousins Maine Lobster visits Newtopia Cyder on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.

The Pierogi Truck (Polish and European cuisine) is scheduled to visit Newtopia on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 3 p.m.

In addition, Newtopia reminds customers that friendly dogs are always welcome.

Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market
The Scripps Ranch Farmers Market offers a wide variety of vendors from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Saturday at 10380 Spring Canyon Road, in the Innovations Academy parking lot. Browse among the booths with a selection of food, services, produce and merchandise. Grab something to eat, sit down and enjoy live music in the food court. This is a very family-friendly event. The NFL conference championships will be held Jan. 21 to determine the teams in the 2018 Super Bowl.

NFL playoffs
Local establishments are celebrating this Sunday’s NFL Conference Championship games as Jacksonville takes on New England at 12:05 p.m., and Minnesota plays at Philadelphia starting at 3:40 p.m.

Little Italy Bar & Grill will be offering happy hour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. featuring a specially priced drink and appetizer menu, and Angel’s Pineapple Infused Vodka shots will be $5 all day. Little Italy Bar & Grill is located at 10006 Scripps Ranch Blvd.

Savagewood Brewing Company will hold an NFL Conference Championship party Sunday. The tasting room be open early so customers can catch the kickoff of the AFC game. Chicken wings from QT Pot will be available for the AFC game. Pizza from Best Pizza & Brew will be served for the NFC game (while supplies last; first come first served). There will also be pint specials for each game. Cold brew coffee and craft soda will be on tap. Oversized Jenga and Connect 4 will also be available. Ballast Point closing early Sunday
Ballast Point Scripps Ranch, 10051 Old Grove Road, will be closing at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21 for a special employee event, according to its Facebook page.

Pet events at Unleashed
On Saturday, Jan. 20, Labs and Friends pet rescue will bring dogs that are looking to be adopted to Unleashed in Scripps Ranch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On Sunday, Jan. 21, Unleashed is offering Free Puppy Playtime to pet owners and their pups from 1 to 1:30 p.m. at the Scripps Ranch store. This is a puppy socialization time for puppies to play with one another.

Sunday concert at the library
The Orvieto Trio will hold a free concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library.

The trio will perform works for violin, cello, and piano trio by Piazzolla, Smetana, Kapustin and Babajanian. The public is invited to enjoy chamber music in the intimate setting of the library’s Community Room.

The trio includes Lauren Basney, violin; Daniel Frankhuisen, cello; and Dr. Byron Chow, MD, piano.

The members of the Orvieto Piano Trio met in 2009 during the Orvieto Musica chamber music festival in the Italian town of the same name. As happens regularly at such festivals, they found tremendous enjoyment in playing together and sharing musical ideas, but they also made the remarkable realization that three individuals from different corners of the country and at different stages in their careers could find the singular passion of playing to have revitalized each other’s love of performing to an even higher degree. It is the Trio’s desire to share this passion with a wider audience and to ignite interest in the live performing arts that spurred them on to perform together upon returning to the United States. The musicians particularly enjoy reuniting for a series of concerts every January in San Diego when the rest of the country is in the throes of winter.

Meet the musicians and mingle with fellow music lovers at a complimentary post-concert reception. This performance is presented as part of the “Pleasure of Your Company” concert series.
