Sanctuary Lounge

The Active Scripps Ranch Singles (ASRS) will be out in force during this performance for a fun evening of socializing and live music. Drink and dance to iconic rock classics from the ’60s to present day. Look for the ASRS sign on one of the tables to the right of the front door.

Fish Fry Friday
Little Italy Bar & Grill is featuring Fish Fry Friday. Stop by to try the beer battered fish and chips. Delicious!

Friday, March 9 has been a festive day at Little Italy Bar & Grill. Earlier in the day the restaurant was celebrating National Meatball Day with a lunch special featuring a homemade meatball sandwich with a side salad or fresh New England clam chowder.

Library anniversary celebrations begin
The Scripps Miramar Ranch Library is celebrating its 25th anniversary with events throughout the month of March.

The celebrations begin with “An Evening to Remember” on Saturday, March 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. “An Evening to Remember” will feature live music, docent tours, silent and live auctions. Tickets include two drinks, heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts. Funds will go toward enhancing the courtyard. For tickets, visit srfol.org

‘Legally Blonde The Musical’
The Scripps Ranch High School Falcon Playhouse is presenting “Legally Blonde The Musical.” The last two performances will be Friday, Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 10 at 2 p.m. in the high school’s theater.

The story is based on the novel “Legally Blonde” by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film of the same name. It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warner. In her journey she discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others, and successfully defends exercise queen Brooke Wyndham in a murder trial. No one has faith in Elle Woods, but that doesn’t stop her as she surprises everyone when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.

The Papas Locas food truck will arrive at Newtopia Cyder to serve hungry customers at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10.

Hula Palooza
Hula Palooza is the annual gala to raise funds for the students’ education at Marshall Middle School. It will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 at Bernardo Winery.

The evening will be filled with a buffet dinner, silent auctions, live auctions, opportunity raffles including a wine wall; all while you enjoy a night of dancing, fun with friends and the hosted bar. Included in the ticket price: appetizers, buffet dinner and dessert, coffee and tea, hosted bar (a selection of sparkling wine, white wine, red wine, craft beers, sparkling grape juice, Italian sodas and sparkling water).

Adoptable dogs at Unleashed
It’s the Pits pet rescue will bring canines in need of a good home to Unleashed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 10.

On Sunday, March 11, the Animal Rescue Resource Foundation (ARRF) will have pets at Unleashed Scripps Ranch to show potential new owners from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Also on Sunday, Unleashed will hold a Vetco affordable vaccination clinic from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. State-licensed veterinarians will be on hand to help keep your pet healthy. Services will be offered for a low cost. No appointment necessary.

Swamp Critters at the library
The “Pleasure of Your Company” concert series presents Billy Lee and the Swamp Critters at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center.

At this special concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the opening of this library and concert venue, the Swamp Critters will perform their special gumbo of Cajun, zydeco and Mardi Gras music. The band includes Billy Lee on accordion, Sandra Stram on fiddle, Bob Pruitt on guitar and Roger Daschle on bass. All contribute to vocals. 

Meet the musicians and mingle with fellow music lovers at a complimentary post-concert reception.

There is no charge for the concert, which is sponsored by the Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library, although donations are appreciated.

Cheers for Children
The Scripps Ranch Unit of Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary presents “Cheers for Children’s,” an evening of music, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, friendship and fundraising from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, at Yanni’s Bar & Grill, 12015 Scripps Highland Drive.

Proceeds will be donated to the HOPES Fund to honor longtime, dedicated Scripps Ranch Unit Auxiliary member Ann Wallace. This fund is used to assist patients and families who cannot afford expenses for items such as wigs, funeral costs, meals, parking, groceries or transportation.
