Farmer’s Market holds Trick or Treat Festival
The Scripps Ranch Farmer’s Market is holding a Trick or Treat Festival on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 10380 Spring Canyon Road, in the Innovations Academy parking lot. All children are invited to dress in costume to enjoy Halloween fun for the entire family. Parents can bring the kids with their Halloween bags for a festive day of treats and shopping.  

There will be 60 vendors for the kids to trick or treat with, free inflatable rides, a free balloon artist and face painter, and a free Halloween Penguin Treasure Hunt. There will also be a caricature artist, a children’s art booth, a petting zoo and more. Costumes aren’t necessary, but encouraged.

No shopping centers are having a Halloween event Saturday, so the Farmer’s Market is the place to be for Halloween fun on Oct. 28.

The market offers an abundance of shopping opportunities, and serves breakfast and lunch in its Bistro Food Court as live entertainers provide music. Visit srfm.org.

October music and party at Sanctuary Lounge
Enjoy live music by saxophonist Keith McKelley on Friday, Oct. 27 starting at 7:30 p.m. at Sanctuary Lounge. McKelley has had a wide and varied career as a saxophonist and electronic wind instrument musician. He also produces and writes his own material with the occasional collaboration with other writers and producers to create heartfelt music. Get ready for DJ Gavin to follow McKelley until 1:30 a.m.

Sanctuary Lounge has a festive evening planned for Saturday, Oct 28, with an epic Halloween party that will include live music, a DJ, a costume contest and drink specials starting at 7 p.m. Stephen Ordonez and the Moonshinerz will provide the live music from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Newtopia rounds out October
Food trucks at Newtopia Cyder this weekend include Carver, Coal & Barrel on Friday, Oct. 27 starting at 3 p.m.; and Pomodoro Rosso on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m.

Newtopia Cyder will hold its weekly Tacos and Trivia Night on Tuesday, Oct. 31. This Tuesday is extra special because it happens to be Halloween, so Newtopia will provide candy for the kids starting at 4 p.m.

Scripps Ranch singer to perform on AVR
Scripps Ranch singing sensation Amalea Rose Ribeiro, age 13, will be one of four performers in a live Online Music Sessions Concert on American Veterans Radio (AVR), Friday night, Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. DJ Steve O will host the show which will include live performances and interviews. Fall Book Sale
The Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library will hold a special Book Sale on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library. In addition to a huge selection of nearly new and gently used recent bestsellers, children’s books, fiction and nonfiction, this sale will include rare, out-of-print, antiquarian and collectible books — all at bargain prices. SR Active Singles plan Halloween Party
The Scripps Ranch Active Singles group will hold a Halloween Party at Mainstream Bar, 13385 Poway Road in Poway starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28. The group will join with other singles groups for an evening of dancing and Halloween fun at the spacious Mainstream Bar. The band Wolff will be playing “rockin’ tunes from both sides of the pond and beyond” from 8 p.m. until midnight. Costumes are recommended, but not essential. Meet at 7:30 p.m., grab a drink and socialize before the band starts. Look for the SRAS sign on one of the tables. RSVP at activesrsingles@gmail.com.


Beer Job Fair
The founder of Savagewood Brewing recently purchased the O’Sullivan Bros. Brewing Co. brewery and tasting room located at 9879 Hibert St., Suite F, in Scripps Ranch.

Anyone who loves beer and wants to work at an up-and-coming neighborhood brewery is encouraged to apply for the beertender/brewery associate position now open at this establishment. The company will hold open interviews on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. Bring your resume.


Open House at Miramar College
The Fall Open House at Miramar College will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon in K-107 Student Services. The event is free, and is a way for students to learn about programs and services, financial aid, transfer and priority enrollment programs. Light refreshments will be served. Events at Unleashed
On Saturday, Oct. 28, two organizations will show pets that are looking to be adopted at Unleashed in Scripps Ranch. 

The Foundation for the Care of Indigent Animals will bring pets looking for homes to Unleashed from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Maltese Rescue California will also bring adoptable dogs to Unleashed on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

On Saturday and Sunday, Unleashed is offering Free Puppy Playtime to pet owners and their pups from 1 to 1:30 p.m. at the Scripps Ranch store. This is a puppy socialization time for puppies to play with one another. Pet owners must bring their pup’s vaccination records.
